Tantric Rituals for Healing and Transformation

In the rapture of life and of living,
I lift up my heart and rejoice,
And I thank the great Giver for giving
The soul of my gladness a voice.
In the glow of the glorious weather,
In the sweet-scented sensuous air,
My burdens seem light as a feather –
They are nothing to bear.
A Song of Life” by Ella Wheeler Wilcox (1850-1919)

Healing is not always about fixing what is broken. Sometimes it is about returning to what has always been whole within you. Tantra offers a path of gentle remembrance. It invites us to see the body as a vessel of wisdom and the connection between ourselves and others as a sacred mirror.

In my 8+ years as a tantra meditation and healing practitioner, I have witnessed how simple rituals can create profound shifts. They help us release old patterns and open to deeper intimacy with ourselves and our partners.

The Role of Rituals in Personal and Relational Healing

In tantra, rituals are not empty routines. They are conscious acts of presence. When we perform a ritual with intention, we slow down the noise of daily life. We signal to our nervous system that it is safe to relax and open. On a personal level, these practices help us befriend our bodies. Many of us carry tension and trauma in our physical forms without realizing it. A gentle ritual of self touch or breath awareness can soften those hardened places. It teaches us to listen to the body’s whispers before they become screams.

For couples and partners, tantric rituals create a container of safety. They allow two people to meet outside of their roles and responsibilities. In this shared space, healing happens through presence rather than words. Old wounds can be held with compassion instead of being triggered. The practice becomes a bridge back to each other.

Creating a Sacred Space for Tantric Practices

Before you begin any practice, you need a space that supports your journey. This does not require a dedicated room or expensive items. It simply asks for your attention and care.

– Choose a spot where you will not be interrupted. It could be a corner of your bedroom or a space in your living room. Cleanse the area physically by tidying up. Then cleanse the energy in a way that feels meaningful to you. You might light a candle, burn incense, or simply ring a small bell.
– Add elements that engage your senses. A soft blanket or cushion invites comfort. A flower or crystal can serve as a focal point for your gaze. You may also include an image or symbol that represents the divine or the loving energy you wish to embody.
– Set your phone aside. This time is for you. When you enter this space, let it remind you that you are entering a different kind of time, one where healing is possible.

Simple Rituals to Incorporate into Daily Life

You do not need hours of free time to practice tantra. Small rituals woven into your day can be just as transformative. Here are three simple practices you can try.

Morning Awakening Breath
Before you get out of bed, place one hand on your heart and one on your belly. Take five deep breaths. With each inhale, imagine drawing in loving energy. With each exhale, release any tension or worry. This sets a tone of embodied awareness for the day ahead.

Sensate Self Connection
Once during the day, pause and bring your attention to your physical sensations. Feel your feet on the floor. Notice the temperature of the air on your skin. Without judgment, just observe. This practice returns you to your body and away from anxious thoughts.

Evening Gratitude Touch
One of my favorites… Before sleep, take a few moments for gentle self massage. Use a natural oil and slowly massage your feet, your hands, or your arms. As you do so, silently thank each part of your body for carrying you through the day. This ritual cultivates self love and releases the day’s stress.

A Shared Ritual for Partners
If you have a partner, you can practice a simple eye gazing ritual. Sit facing each other in a comfortable position. Set a timer for five minutes. Look softly into each other’s left eye, which is connected to the receptive side of the body. Breathe together. You are not trying to do anything. You are simply allowing yourselves to be seen. This practice builds trust and deepens intimacy.

Moving Forward with Gentleness

Tantra is not about achieving a certain state or reaching a goal. It is about coming home to yourself and to your loved ones with more presence and love. The rituals you choose are simply tools to support that return.

Start with one practice that calls to you. Do it consistently for a week and notice how you feel. Healing unfolds in these small, steady moments of attention.

Ivy’s February Recap

February was a cold one here in NYC! 🥶 We got a big snow fall at the end of January, and it didn’t really melt until after a 2nd big snowfall towards the end of the month. I left for some personal travel to New Orleans when that 2nd blizzard hit, but interestingly enough, there was more snow when I left than when I came back. It really makes one appreciate 40 degrees when it’s been in the 20’s or lower.

I had a marvelous time in NOLA! A couple of the days were amazing temperature wise, then there were actually some cold days because of wind chill. I had a good time exploring and getting to know some of the history and culture; eating amazing food, listening to jazz in the heart of where it started, relishing in nature, swimming with gators! 🐊 (haha, jk). I have family from there so it was nice connecting with that side of my roots as well.

Ivy’s March Schedule

I will be available in NYC throughout March. I am available to host in Union Square, or I am happy to visit a high end hotel. If you would like to bring me to your city, you can inquire about a FMTY or TMTY.

ALSO!!! March is my birthday month! 🥳 If you would like to help me celebrate, gifts are lovingly accepted! 🥰 Please inquire directly if you would like to gift monetarily through Venmo or BTC, or to send a gift card. I really love & appreciate gift cards that help with travel expenses; such as Delta, Uber, & Lyft! 😍

I look forward to connecting with you again soon!

Embracing the Stillness: A Tantric Guide to Honoring Winter’s Yin Energy

Lately I have been feeling uninspired; I was thinking that I may not even do a February newsletter. As I sat more with my feelings, I realized what I was feeling was the Yin energy of the winter season. We’re in it’s peak! With below freezing temperatures plaguing us for weeks (at least where I am in NYC). We are meant to slow down with nature’s energy. Conserving our energy, resting; giving ourselves that grace. This month’s Tantra education will be on how to practice slowing down with the winter.

A river in Grandby, CO during the winter months

As the world outside turns inward, entering a period of deep rest and crystalline quiet, our spiritual practice naturally calls for a shift. In the Tantric view, the universe is a dynamic dance of complementary energies: the active, solar, masculine Yang and the receptive, lunar, feminine Yin. Winter is the supreme expression of Yin. The earth rests. Light is scarce. Life force withdraws to the roots to gather strength for the coming spring. To force a fiery, effortful practice against this tide is to misunderstand Tantra’s fundamental principle of unity with all cycles. True practice is not separate from life. It is a conscious participation in its rhythms. This winter, we are invited to align our Tantra with the sacred quiet, transforming our practice into a vessel for profound inner listening and potent regeneration.

Reimagining Sadhana: From Outer Practice to Inner Sanctuary

Your daily sadhana (a daily spiritual practice; one of the main tools for working on the self and achieving a higher state of consciousness) need not diminish in the winter. It deepens and changes form. Consider this season an invitation to move from a practice of doing to a practice of being with. The outer forms may soften, but the inner connection can become more vivid than ever.

Begin by honoring the physical space. Create a simple altar that reflects the season. A dark cloth, a bare branch, a single crystal, a candle. These are your Yin allies. They speak of stillness, potential, and the beauty of essence. Before you sit, wrap yourself in a shawl. Let your body feel held and warm. This is not indulgence. It is the sacred act of creating a womb space for your consciousness.

Shift your asana (physical postures, poses, or seats used in yoga practice) practice from dynamic movement to gentle, floor-based shapes. Long-held Yin or restorative postures are profoundly Tantric in winter. They invite you to marry your awareness with the subtle energies of your tissues, your breath, and the silent spaces between thoughts. In poses like Supported Child’s Pose or Supta Baddha Konasana, you are not striving for a peak. You are practicing devotion to the vessel that carries your spirit. Each mindful breath becomes an offering of gratitude for its shelter.

The Alchemy of Breath and Silence

Pranayama (yogic practice of controlling the breath) in winter follows the same guiding principle. The stimulating, heating breaths of summer give way to softer, balancing, and nourishing techniques. Nadi Shodhana, Alternate Nostril Breathing, becomes a central practice. It harmonizes the solar and lunar channels within, mirroring the seasonal balance we seek. Its rhythm is gentle, like the falling snow, bringing equilibrium to a nervous system that may feel frayed by the year’s demands.

Most importantly, winter is the season to reclaim the power of silence. Tantra is a path of sound and vibration, but its deepest notes are heard in stillness. Dedicate a portion of your meditation to simply sitting in the dark, perhaps with only a candle’s flame. Listen. Listen to the silence in your room. Listen to the quieter rhythms of your own body. In this receptive listening, you are practicing a fundamental Tantric principle: you are making space for Shiva, the pure consciousness that resides in stillness. You are the receptive Yin to that boundless awareness.

Ritual as Receptive Communion

Tantra is infused with ritual, and winter rituals are inherently Yin. Let your practice be one of receiving blessings rather than actively invoking them.

Moon gazing is a perfect winter Tantric ritual. On a clear night, wrap warmly and sit with the moon. Soften your gaze. Feel her cool, reflective light as a balm. Imagine it bathing your entire being, cleansing and calming your emotional body. Do not analyze. Simply receive. This is a direct communion with the celestial embodiment of Yin.

Similarly, practice receptive mantra. Instead of chanting vigorously, whisper the mantra internally, or listen to a soft, melodic recording. Let the vibration wash over you and move through you. Be the hollow bone through which the divine sound flows. The bija mantra SHAM (for peace) or KLIM (for attracting loving energy) are particularly supportive for winter’s introspective mood.

The Inner Flame: Transforming Withdrawal into Wisdom

A common challenge in winter is the feeling of spiritual lethargy or melancholy. The Tantric view does not pathologize this. It sees this inward pull as an opportunity to tend the inner hearth. The fiery energy of Kundalini is not absent. It is burning at its core, consolidating and transforming.

When you feel withdrawn, practice contemplative journaling as a form of Svadhyaya (self-study). Light a candle. Write not from a place of critique, but from a place of witnessing. What seeds were planted in the past year? What is asking to be composted and released in this dark, fertile ground? This is not mere diary entry. It is a sacred dialogue with your deeper Self.

Finally, embrace the Tantric art of non-action. There is profound spiritual power in consciously choosing to rest, to read nourishing texts, to drink tea mindfully, or to simply watch the fire. In a culture that prizes relentless Yang activity, choosing Yin is a radical Tantric practice. It affirms that your worth is not in your output, but in your essence. You are practicing the being-ness of the Divine itself.

This winter, let your Tantra be a gentle, loving return to your own source. By honoring the Yin, you are not pausing your spiritual journey. You are allowing it to descend into the rich soil of your soul, where the most potent transformations occur unseen. When spring’s Yang energy finally stirs, you will rise not from a place of depletion, but from a deep, silent well of power that you have tenderly protected and nourished. You will rise integrated, whole, and radiantly alive.

Ivy’s Interest

As a person in the industry that I am, bitcoin/crypto currency has been a tool that I use on the regular. In August of 2025 I started learning more about privacy and safety when it comes to crypto currency. Through a dear friend of mine’s help, Violet, I have become more knowledgeable and confident in using it. I would encourage everyone to at least learn more about; what it is, how to use it, how to stay safe while doing so. Violet has done an amazing job outlining how to use crypto as a client and reasons why it’s a smart idea. You can find her teachings here. The more people use it, the more normalized it becomes. As of right now I only accept deposits and gifts in crypto, but hopefully with more normalization, I will be able to accept full tributes.

Ivy’s February Calendar

I will be available in NYC throughout February. I am available to host in Union Square, or I am happy to visit a high end hotel. If you would like to bring me to your city, you can inquire about a FMTY or TMTY.

I can’t wait to connect!

Awaken Your New Year: A Tantric Pathway to Conscious Beginnings

Happy New Year! I hope your new year has had an incredibly wonderful start and that continues as time goes on.

As the calendar turns, we often seek renewal through resolutions and rituals. This year, consider a deeper, more integrated approach. Tantra offers a profound framework for transformation. It moves beyond quick fixes to foster a conscious connection with yourself and the world around you. This New Year, you can weave tantric principles into your practice. This creates a foundation of awareness, intention, and sacred energy for the months to come.

Understanding the Tantric Perspective

Tantra is a spiritual technology originating from ancient India. It views the entire universe as a manifestation of divine consciousness. Unlike paths of renunciation, Tantra embraces all of life as sacred. It teaches us to harness and channel energy, known as prana or shakti, for spiritual growth. The goal is not to escape the world but to experience it more fully and joyfully. This New Year transition becomes a powerful marker in your ongoing journey of awakening.

From Resolution to Sankalpa: Setting a Sacred Intention

Traditional resolutions often stem from a place of lack or criticism. Tantra invites us to set a Sankalpa. This is a heartfelt intention planted in the fertile soil of your highest self.

To create your Sankalpa, find a quiet space for meditation. Sit comfortably and connect with your breath. Ask yourself: “What is my heart’s deepest desire for my growth this year?” or “What quality do I wish to embody?” Your Sankalpa should be a positive, present-tense statement. Examples include “I am radiant health” or “I live in compassionate abundance.” This intention becomes your guiding star, infused with spiritual energy rather than willpower alone.

A Tantric Ritual for your New Year: Release and Receptivity

Create a simple ceremony to honor the transition. You will need a journal, a pen, a candle, and perhaps a small bowl of water.

Begin by lighting the candle, symbolizing the light of consciousness. Close your eyes and take several deep breaths. Ground yourself in your body.

Step One: Gratitude and Release. In your journal, list the blessings and lessons of the past year. Then, on a separate page, write down what you are ready to release. These may be habits, fears, or old stories. Hold this page with both hands. Silently express gratitude for its teachings. Then safely burn the paper, letting the smoke carry the release. Alternatively, you can tear it and place it in the bowl of water, representing dissolution.

Step Two: Invocation and Sankalpa. Now, in a clear, soft voice, state your Sankalpa three times. Feel the vibration of the words in your heart center. Imagine this intention being absorbed by the universe. Sit silently for a few minutes, visualizing this energy as a light growing within you.

Integrating Tantra Daily: Micro-Practices for Macro Shifts

The true power lies in weaving tantric awareness into everyday life. This transforms your entire year into a spiritual practice.

1. Mindful Morning Connection. Before reaching for your phone, spend five minutes in bed. Place your hands on your heart and lower belly. Breathe deeply, feeling the connection between these centers. Set a micro-intention to move through the day with more awareness.

2. Sacred Sensation. Tantra honors the senses as gateways to the present. Choose one routine activity, like showering or drinking tea. Engage in it fully. Feel the water on your skin, smell the aroma, taste the warmth. This practice of presence turns mundane moments into meditations.

3. Conscious Communication. Pause before speaking. Breath into your heart. Ask if your words are true, necessary, and kind. This builds more harmonious relationships, a key aspect of the tantric path.

4. Evening Reflection. Before sleep, review your day without judgment. Acknowledge moments you felt connected and moments you felt separate. Place your hands over your heart. Offer yourself forgiveness and gratitude. This completes the day’s cycle with awareness.

Embracing Polarity and Unity

The New Year symbolizes a polarity: the old and the new. Tantra sees polarity, like masculine and feminine energies, as the source of creative dynamism. Reflect on this balance within yourself. You might meditate on integrating more receptive energy (yin) to complement your active goals (yang). This fosters inner union, which reflects as greater harmony in your external world.

Your Year as a Mandala

Imagine your coming year as a sacred circle, a mandala. Each day, each experience, is part of its intricate design. You are both the artist and the center. By approaching your goals, relationships, and challenges with tantric mindfulness, you imbue every fragment with sacred purpose. Progress is not linear. It is a spiral of learning, growing, and deepening.

This New Year, step onto the tantric path. It is a journey of coming home to the sacred wholeness that you already are. Release the pressure of drastic change. Instead, cultivate a gentle, sustained awareness. From this space, your most authentic transformation will naturally and powerfully unfold.

May your year be filled with conscious connection, abundant energy, and profound peace.

Ivy’s 2025 Recap

While it wasn’t all sugar and spice, I did have some wonderful experiences in 2025, making beautiful memories with family and friends! I had my first FMTY’s (fly me to you). I had the privileged of visiting Japan and Provence in France. I saw spectacular performances from Chicago! and the Rockettes. I saw so many great artists such as Bush, Iniko, and various orchestra’s. I am grateful for those who were able to share with me, and I look forward to making many more memories this year to come!

Ivy’s January Schedule

I will not be traveling as much as I have been. I was visiting Chicago, IL and Columbus, OH every 3 months, as well as various cities in between, but those visits will be less frequent this year. I will be focusing more time on building my practice in NYC and prioritizing FMTY’s. If you are interested in sponsoring a trip for me to your city, please reach out so we can make arrangements.

I will be visiting Columbus at the end of the month/beginning of February. Other than then, I will be available in NYC or for FMTY’s. In NYC, I can host in Union Square, or I am available for outcalls to high end hotels.

Columbus, OH
Saturday, January 31st | 6:30-8:30pm
Sunday, February 1st | 10am-8pm
Monday, February 2nd | 10am-8pm
Tuesday, February 3rd | 10am-1pm

New Year, New Offering!

I am exciting to announce I will be providing a new offering in NYC! Previously, the Bath Ceremony session was only available in Columbus, OH, as that was the only space I use that has a tub big enough to offer this service. Now, I am able to offer this nurturing, healing journey in NYC! You can read more about the offering on my site. *Please note that the tribute for this offering in NYC will be different than the standard rates.

I can’t wait to connect with you in person this year!

How Tantra Transforms a Busy Mind into Awakened Consciousness

The Alchemy of Attention: How Tantra Transforms a Busy Mind into Awakened Consciousness

In the quiet pursuit of peace, we often ask our minds to become something they are not: silent, still, and obedient. We witness its constant flow of thoughts, its rehearsals of the past, and its worries for the future. This mental chatter can feel like a barrier to the peace we seek. Tantra, a vast and integrative spiritual path, offers a revolutionary approach. It does not teach us to fight the mind. Instead, it guides us in the alchemy of attention, transforming the very energy of thought into the luminous awareness of pure consciousness.

Tantra is often misunderstood. Its true essence is not found in a single practice but in a holistic worldview. It sees the entire universe, including our bodies, senses, and minds, as a vibrant expression of a divine, conscious energy. From this perspective, the mind is not an enemy to be defeated. It is a powerful instrument to be understood and mastered. The journey from a restless mind to a still one is not a path of suppression. It is a process of gathering our scattered awareness back to its source.

The Tantric Blueprint: Energy in Motion

At the heart of Tantra is the understanding that everything is energy. Our thoughts, emotions, and sensory experiences are all manifestations of this dynamic, intelligent force. A busy mind is simply a sign of scattered, unrefined energy moving in countless directions. This creates a veil over our true nature, which is pure, still consciousness.

The goal of a Tantric practice is to gently gather this scattered energy. We learn to channel it from many streams into a single, focused flow. As our energy becomes concentrated, the mind, which rides upon it, naturally settles. The waves of thought begin to calm, revealing the deep, still ocean of awareness beneath. This is the great alchemy of Tantra: using the energy of distraction itself as the fuel for profound focus.

The Pathways to Inner Stillness

Tantra provides a rich tapestry of practices to facilitate this inner transformation. Each one is a method for collecting attention and refining energy.

The Sacred Sound of Mantra
While breath and energy centers are foundational, the conscious use of sound offers a direct path to mental quietude. A mantra is a potent syllable or phrase that serves as an anchor for the mind. Unlike ordinary language that carries conceptual meaning, a mantra’s power lies in its vibrational quality.

When we repeat a mantra silently or aloud, we give the mind a single, rhythmic point of focus. Each time attention wanders to a thought, we gently return it to the sound. This consistent, loving redirection gradually wears down the habitual patterns of the thinking mind. The mantra acts not as a thought, but as a sonic vehicle that carries us beyond thought. It helps to dissolve the identification with our mental narrative, allowing us to rest as the witness of the sound itself.

The Practice of Mindful Ritual
Tantra is an embodied path that honors the senses as gateways to the sacred. A powerful yet often overlooked method for stilling the mind is the practice of mindful ritual. This involves imbuing simple, daily actions with profound presence.

Consider the act of lighting a candle, arranging flowers, or drinking tea. When performed as a ritual, we engage all our senses completely. We see the flame’s dance, smell the incense, feel the warmth of the cup. By pouring our entire awareness into the sensory experience of the present moment, we leave no room for mental commentary. The mind, fully absorbed in the sacredness of the act, becomes effortlessly still. This teaches us that presence is not found by escaping the world, but by meeting it with our whole being.

The Power of the Witness
Underpinning all Tantric practices is the cultivation of Sakshi Bhava, the attitude of the witness. This is the gentle shift from being lost in our thoughts to being aware of our thoughts. Tantra encourages us to observe the mind’s activity with curiosity and without judgment.

We learn to sit back and watch thoughts and emotions arise and pass, much like clouds moving across the sky. This practice creates a critical space between our identity and our mental content. We begin to intuit that we are not the passing cloud, but the vast sky that holds it. This recognition is the first glimpse of awakening consciousness.

The Dawn of Awakened Consciousness

As we consistently engage in these practices, a profound shift occurs. The moments of mental stillness become less of an achievement and more of a natural abiding state. We start to perceive the world from a place of grounded awareness rather than reactive thought.

This awakening is not a blinding flash of light, but a gentle dawn. It is the gradual recognition of Shiva, the silent, aware consciousness that has been present all along, witnessing the entire play of life. We realize that this consciousness is not something we need to acquire. It is what we have always been. The practices of Tantra do not create this awareness; they simply remove the layers of mental dust that have obscured it.

The mind, now understood and harmonized, becomes a valuable servant rather than a chaotic master. It functions clearly when needed, and rests in quietude when not. Life ceases to be a problem to be solved by the thinking mind and becomes a mystery to be lived from the heart of awareness.

Weaving Stillness into the Tapestry of Life

The ultimate gift of this Tantric path is the ability to carry this awakened consciousness into every moment. The stillness found in meditation begins to infuse our conversations, our work, and our relationships. We learn to respond to life from a place of centered clarity instead of reacting from a place of mental turbulence.

Tantra shows us that the peace we seek is not a distant goal. It is the very essence of our being, waiting to be revealed when the mind is quiet. By embracing this alchemical path, we discover that within the core of our own awareness lies an infinite, silent peace. This peace is the ground of all existence, and it is our true home.

Ivy’s November Recap

The month of November was a whirlwind for me! I started off the month cheering my friend on in the New York City Marathon 🏅, but then it was time for packing and moving! I got a few boxes pack on my own, but I ended up getting sick in the middle of it. 👎 That really put me behind, and mentally out of it. By move day I was feeling somewhat back to normal. The movers did a great job doing what I wasn’t able to complete.

Grand Chandelier at Radio City Music Hall

Once I got myself mostly situated in my new place, it was time for family visiting for the holiday. I got to see the Rockette’s for the first time and we all watched the Thanksgiving Day Parade from my friend’s window. Such a treat being able to be warm and cozy. 🦃

December will be slightly less chaotic for me, although still very busy. I am looking forward to the slower pace that winter brings. ❄️

Stunning maple tree I found walking around my new neighborhood

Ivy’s December Schedule

I will be mostly available in NYC this month, other than the one trip to Chicago I have planned. There will be dates I won’t be available around the holidays, so be sure to plan in advance! Hosting in Union Square, or I am able to visit high end hotels.

Chicago, IL | West Town

Breathe In Vitality: How Pranayama Cultivates Energy and Inner Balance

The Breathing
by Denise Levertov

A bird in the head, still, but its beak open,
and the breath, the breath, the breath,
the delicate wind that is life, going and coming.

The task: to be where you are.
To breathe, simply. To breathe
is self-care. The breath,
a faithful, unnoticed companion.

In, out. The body’s tide.
This is the foundation. Upon this rhythm,
everything else is built. The thought,
the word, the step, the embrace.

All return to this. The breath.
The constant, quiet proof
that you are here, you are now,
you are alive.

In the quiet space of a morning practice, before the day’s demands begin, there exists a simple yet profound tool for transformation. This tool is your breath. In the ancient science of yoga, the art of conscious breathing is known as Pranayama. “Prana” means life force or vital energy. “Ayama” means to extend or draw out. Together, Pranayama is the practice of harnessing and channeling our intrinsic energy through deliberate breathing techniques. It is a gateway to a reservoir of vitality and a foundation of unshakable balance.

Many of us move through life feeling perpetually drained. We seek energy in external sources like caffeine or sugar, only to experience sharper crashes later. We crave stability, yet feel tossed by the waves of daily stress. Pranayama offers a different path. It invites us to look inward to the very source of our life. By changing how we breathe, we can fundamentally change how we feel, think, and engage with the world.

The common belief is that energy comes only from nutrition and sleep. While these are essential, Pranayama gives us access to a third, more direct source. Think of your breath as the mediator between your body and your mind. A shallow, rapid breath often signals stress to the nervous system. It can perpetuate feelings of anxiety and fatigue. Conversely, a deep, rhythmic breath tells your body it is safe. It can activate a state of calm alertness.

Specific Pranayama techniques are renowned for their energizing effects. Kapalabhati, or Skull Shining Breath, is one such practice. It involves short, powerful exhales and passive inhales. This technique helps to clear the respiratory passages and stimulate the solar plexus. This is the center of personal power. The vigorous exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide invigorates the circulatory system. It can help to reduce mental fog and create a sense of sharp, clean energy. Unlike the jittery feeling from stimulants, this energy arises from within. It is clear and sustainable.

Another powerful method is Bhastrika, or Bellows Breath. This practice involves forceful and equal inhales and exhales. It stokes the internal fire, much like a blacksmith’s bellows stoke a flame. This process oxygenates the blood and releases trapped prana. Practitioners often experience a surge of heat and vitality. This makes it an excellent practice for overcoming lethargy and revitalizing the entire system.

Energy without balance can feel chaotic. This is where Pranayama reveals its profound duality. The same breath that can ignite our inner fire can also soothe our frazzled nerves. Balance is not a state of passive stillness. It is a dynamic and graceful equilibrium between action and rest, effort and surrender.

The single most effective technique for cultivating balance is Nadi Shodhana, or Alternate Nostril Breathing. This practice is a cornerstone of Pranayama for a very specific reason. In yogic anatomy, we have subtle energy channels called Nadis. The Ida and Pingala Nadis represent the lunar and solar, the feminine and masculine, the cooling and heating energies within us. When these channels are balanced, we experience mental clarity and emotional stability.

Nadi Shodhana involves gently alternating the breath between the left and right nostrils. This simple, rhythmic action harmonizes the two hemispheres of the brain. It calms the nervous system and integrates our dualistic nature. After just a few minutes of practice, a palpable sense of peace descends. The mind becomes quiet. The heart rate steadies. We find our center, regardless of the external chaos. This is the true meaning of balance. It is an inner anchor that holds fast through any storm.

The beauty of Pranayama is its accessibility. You do not need special equipment or a large amount of time. Consistency is far more important than duration.

Begin your day with five minutes of Kapalabhati to clear your mind and ignite your energy. Sit comfortably with a straight spine. Take a normal inhale, then exhale forcefully through your nose by quickly contracting your lower abdomen. The inhale will happen naturally as you release the contraction. Start with one round of 30 breaths, then take a few normal breaths. Observe the tingling sensation of energy awakening in your body.

When you feel stress building during the day, pause for three minutes of Nadi Shodhana. Use your right thumb to close your right nostril. Inhale through your left nostril. Then, use your ring finger to close your left nostril. Open and exhale through the right. Inhale through the right, close it, and exhale through the left. This completes one cycle. Continue this pattern, allowing your breath to become smooth and even. This small pause can reset your entire nervous system.

Before sleep, practice a few minutes of deep, diaphragmatic breathing. Lie down and place one hand on your belly. Inhale slowly through your nose, feeling your abdomen rise. Exhale fully, feeling it fall. This simple practice activates the parasympathetic nervous system. It encourages deep rest and completes the cycle of energy and recovery.

Pranayama is a gentle but powerful invitation to participate in your own well-being. It is a return to the most fundamental rhythm of your life. Each conscious breath is a step toward unlocking your latent vitality. Each moment of balanced breathing is a foundation for a more centered and peaceful existence.

Do not seek perfection in your practice. Seek presence. Notice the subtle shifts in your energy levels. Observe the growing spaces of calm between your thoughts. The breath is a faithful and constant companion on your journey toward a life of vibrant energy and profound balance. It is always there, waiting to guide you home to yourself.

October Recap

October was a busy yet cozy month for me. 🥰🍂 I traveled to Columbus, OH and San Francisco. I attended a wedding for a dear friend, and I celebrated Halloween with many friends! 🎃 Can you guess who I dressed as?

I’ve had these boots^ for 12+ years but I haven’t worn them probably 8+ years! 😰 It was so fun to bring them out again and I hope I’m able to style more outfits with them. I think they could use a good conditioning though.

I also had a little bit of free time to visit Sonoma Coast State Park. It was a windy and rainy day, but the energy of the ocean was papable! 🌊 I drove through tunnels of eucalyptus trees and the smell was divine! It made me understand better why people are so obsessed with California.

Ivy’s November Schedule

I apologize I sent this letter out late. I was in Stamford on the 4th and will be staying in NYC the rest of the month. I will be taking some time off around Thanksgiving, so please keep that in mind as you plan out your month. ♥️

I have an in-call in Union Square and am available for outcalls to high end hotels.

I hope to see you soon!

The Subtle Body Symphony: Understanding Chakras and Their Tantric Harmony

In the quiet spaces between our breaths and the rhythm of our heartbeat, there exists a more subtle anatomy. This is the landscape of our inner energy, a map to our deepest consciousness. At the heart of this map lie the chakras, and the path to navigating them is beautifully illuminated by the ancient wisdom of Tantra. This journey is not about fixing what is broken. It is about remembering a latent harmony that already exists within you.

What Are Chakras? The Wheels of Life Within

The word “chakra” translates from Sanskrit as “wheel” or “disk.” Imagine these as vibrant, spinning vortices of energy located along the central channel of your spine, from its base to the crown of your head. These are not physical entities you can see on an MRI scan. They are core components of our subtle or energetic body, the pranic blueprint that animates our physical form.

Think of them as junction points. They bridge our consciousness with our physical body. Each chakra governs specific physiological functions, emotional states, and spiritual potentials. When these wheels spin freely and are open, life force energy, known as Prana or Shakti, flows unimpeded. This flow results in vibrant health, emotional stability, and a profound sense of connection to life. When a chakra becomes blocked, sluggish, or overactive, it can manifest as physical illness, emotional distress, or a feeling of being stuck.

While there are many chakras in the body, most systems focus on seven primary ones. Each has a unique resonance, symbolized by a specific color, sound, and element.

1. Muladhara (Root Chakra): Located at the base of the spine. Its color is red. It is our foundation, governing survival, security, and our connection to the Earth.

2. Svadhishthana (Sacral Chakra): Located in the lower abdomen. Its color is orange. It is the center of creativity, pleasure, emotion, and healthy sexuality.

3. Manipura (Solar Plexus Chakra): Located in the upper abdomen. Its color is yellow. This is our core of personal power, self-esteem, and transformation.

4. Anahata (Heart Chakra): Situated in the center of the chest. Its color is green. It is the bridge between the lower and upper chakras, the seat of unconditional love, compassion, and connection.

5. Vishuddha (Throat Chakra): Located at the throat. Its color is blue. This center governs communication, authentic self-expression, and truth.

6. Ajna (Third Eye Chakra): Situated between the eyebrows. Its color is indigo. It is the center of intuition, insight, and inner wisdom.

7. Sahasrara (Crown Chakra): Located at the crown of the head. Its color is violet or white. This chakra represents our highest state of consciousness, spiritual connection, and enlightenment.

The Tantric View: Weaving the Energetic Web

Tantra is a vast and profound spiritual path that originated in ancient India. It is often misunderstood in the West as being solely about sacred sexuality. While that can be one of its powerful facets, Tantra is fundamentally a philosophy of integration. Tantra seeks to weave together the spiritual and the material, the divine and the human, the transcendent and the immanent. It does not reject the world but sees it as a manifestation of the sacred.

In the Tantric view, the chakras are not just isolated energy centers. They are integral stations along the path of the rising Kundalini energy. Kundalini is conceptualized as a coiled serpent of immense creative potential lying dormant at the base of the spine. The ultimate goal of many Tantric practices is to awaken this Kundalini Shakti. It then ascends through the central channel, the Sushumna Nadi, piercing and energizing each chakra along its journey. This process purifies and unlocks the full potential of each center. It culminates in the union of Shakti (the individual soul) with Shiva (universal consciousness) at the crown chakra. This union brings about a state of radical freedom and bliss.

Therefore, the chakras in Tantra are not merely balanced for personal well-being. They are awakened and aligned to serve as a sacred ladder for the ascent of consciousness. Tantra provides the practical technologies to safely navigate this profound inner awakening.

Aligning and Balancing Your Chakras Through Tantric Practices

Tantric chakra work is an embodied, experiential journey. It is a gentle, persistent practice of coming home to your own energy. Here are several foundational Tantric practices to help you align and balance your chakras.

1. The Power of Breath: Pranayama

Breath is the vehicle for Prana. By consciously directing the breath, you can direct energy to specific areas of the body.

* Nadi Shodhana (Alternate Nostril Breathing): This classic technique purifies the subtle energy channels, calming the mind and balancing the left and right hemispheres of the brain. This creates the ideal condition for chakra work. As you breathe alternately through each nostril, you harmonize the solar and lunar energies, bringing a profound sense of equilibrium to the entire chakra system.

* Dirga Pranayama (Three-Part Breath): This practice involves filling the belly, rib cage, and upper chest sequentially on the inhalation, and releasing in reverse order on the exhalation. It calms the nervous system and encourages a free flow of energy from the root to the crown, gently massaging and connecting all the chakras.

2. Sacred Sound: Mantra and Bija Akshara

Each chakra has a primordial sound or bija (seed) mantra associated with it. Chanting these sounds vibrates at the specific frequency of the chakra, helping to clear blockages and restore its natural rhythm.

* Root: LAM

* Sacral: VAM

* Solar Plexus: RAM

* Heart: YAM

* Throat: HAM

* Third Eye: OM (or SHAM)

* Crown: The sound of silence (or OM)

Sit in a comfortable meditation posture. Bring your awareness to the location of the chakra you wish to work with. Inhale deeply, and as you exhale, chant the corresponding bija mantra aloud. Feel the vibration resonating in that area of your body. Visualize the chakra’s color glowing brightly with each repetition.

3. Conscious Movement and Asana

Tantric yoga is less about perfect form and more about cultivating inner awareness and directing energy. Specific yoga postures can help stimulate and balance the chakras.

* Root: Standing poses like Warrior I and II, and squats.

* Sacral: Hip-opening poses like Pigeon Pose and Bound Angle Pose.

* Solar Plexus: Core-strengthening poses like Boat Pose and twists.

* Heart: Chest-opening poses like Camel Pose and Cobra Pose.

* Throat: Shoulderstand and Fish Pose.

* Third Eye: Child’s Pose and poses where the forehead rests on the floor.

* Crown: Headstand and meditation, simply sitting in stillness.

The key is to practice with mindful awareness. Feel the pose creating space and stimulating energy in the corresponding chakra region.

4. Meditation and Visualization

Meditation is the cornerstone of Tantric chakra alignment. It is here that you directly converse with your subtle body.

Find a quiet space and sit comfortably. Close your eyes. Bring your awareness to your root chakra. Visualize it as a spinning wheel of red light. Feel its qualities of stability and safety. Then, slowly guide your awareness up the spine to each subsequent chakra. See each one in its brilliant color, spinning clearly and radiantly. You are not forcing anything. You are simply witnessing, acknowledging, and inviting each center into its natural state of balance. This practice builds a coherent and connected energetic system.

5. Cultivating a Tantric Mindset: Everything is an Offering

Ultimately, the most profound Tantric practice is to infuse your entire life with sacred awareness. See every action, every sensation, and every interaction as an opportunity to channel energy consciously. When you eat, offer the nourishment to your body’s temple. When you speak, let it be a conscious expression of your truth from the throat chakra. When you love, let it be an unconditional flow from an open heart.

This shift in perspective transforms chakra work from an isolated practice on a mat into a living, breathing dance. You begin to weave the divine into the mundane, aligning your energy not just in meditation, but in every moment of your existence.

A Journey of Gentle Unfoldment

Balancing your chakras through Tantra is a lifelong journey of self-discovery. It is a gentle unfolding, a loving return to the inherent wholeness that you are. Approach this practice with curiosity and compassion, not with rigid ambition. Listen to the subtle whispers of your body. Honor the unique rhythm of your own energy. As you consistently engage in these practices, you will begin to feel more grounded, more open, more intuitively connected, and more vibrantly alive. You will remember the symphony of your own being, and each chakra will sing its note in perfect, harmonious tune.

The Sacred Bridge: The Importance of Breath Work in Tantra and How to Practice Deep, Conscious Breathing

In the quiet spaces between our thoughts, there is a constant, gentle rhythm. It is the rhythm of life itself. This rhythm is our breath. In the ancient spiritual science of Tantra, breath is far more than a biological function. It is the sacred bridge connecting the body, mind, and spirit. It is the vehicle for life force energy, known as Prana or Shakti. To master the breath is to begin mastering the flow of energy within, unlocking profound states of awareness, healing, and connection. This exploration delves into the heart of Tantric breath work. We will uncover its profound importance and guide you through a simple yet powerful practice of deep, conscious breathing.
Tantra is a path of embodiment. It does not seek to transcend the physical world but to realize the divine within it. In this worldview, the breath is the most immediate and accessible expression of the universal life force.
The Sanskrit word Prana translates to “vital life force” or “first unit of energy.” It is the intelligent energy that animates all of creation. We absorb Prana not only from the air we breathe but also from sunlight, food, and our environment. Conscious breathing, or Pranayama, is the practice of consciously regulating this energy to harmonize the body and mind.
Tantra teaches that where our attention goes, our energy flows. Our mental and emotional states are directly reflected in our breathing patterns. Anxiety creates shallow, rapid breaths. Calm cultivates deep, slow rhythms. By consciously changing our breath, we can directly influence our state of being. We can dissolve energetic blockages, calm the nervous system, and awaken dormant potential. The breath becomes a tool to alchemize emotion, transform stress into vitality, and separate the stillness of our true self from the chatter of the mind. Tantra is the union of individual consciousness with universal consciousness. It is the sacred marriage of Shiva (pure awareness) and Shakti (creative energy) within our own being. The breath is the dance of this union. The inhale draws in Shakti, the vibrant, creative energy of the universe. The exhale releases into Shiva, the silent, spacious awareness that holds all. In each cycle, we practice this divine union, weaving the polarities of life into a harmonious whole.
How to Practice Deep, Conscious Tantric Breathing The beauty of this practice is its simplicity. It requires no special equipment, only your attention. Find a quiet space where you can sit comfortably with your spine erect. This alignment allows for the free flow of energy through the central channel of the body.
Step 1: Establishing Awareness
Begin by closing your eyes. Gently bring your awareness to your natural breath. Do not try to change it. Simply observe the sensation of the air moving in and out of your nostrils. Feel the slight rise and fall of your chest and abdomen. Notice the temperature of the air on the inhale and the exhale. For a few minutes, be a silent witness to this natural process. This anchors you in the present moment.
Step 2: Deepening the Breath (Diaphragmatic Breathing)
Place one hand on your chest and the other on your navel. As you inhale slowly through your nose, imagine sending the breath deep into your belly. Feel your lower hand rise as your diaphragm expands. Your chest should remain relatively still. This is full, diaphragmatic breathing. It massages your internal organs and activates the parasympathetic nervous system, signaling safety and relaxation. As you exhale, gently let the air fall out of your body completely. Feel your hand lower. Allow the exhale to be longer than the inhale. This complete exhalation releases stagnant air and toxins, making space for fresh, oxygen-rich Prana on the next inhalation.
Step 3: Cultivating Conscious Connection
Now, introduce a gentle conscious element to this deepened breath. As you inhale, silently affirm “I receive.” Receive life, energy, and light. Feel yourself drawing in nourishment and vitality with every cell of your body. As you exhale, silently affirm “I release.” Release tension, stress, and anything that no longer serves you. Let go of thoughts, worries, and limitations. With each exhale, feel yourself becoming lighter and more open.
Step 4: Visualizing the Flow of Energy
To deepen the Tantric aspect, incorporate a simple visualization. Imagine a luminous, warm energy at the base of your spine. This is your reservoir of Shakti. On your next inhale, visualize this radiant energy rising gently up the front of your spine, nourishing every part of your being as it moves toward your heart.
As you exhale, feel this energy descending down the back of your spine, grounding you and completing a circuit of light. Continue this circular flow of energy, synchronized with your breath. This practice, a simplified form of the microcosmic orbit, helps circulate Prana throughout your entire energy body.
Practice this conscious breathing for five to ten minutes daily. Consistency is more important than duration. Over time, you will notice a profound shift. Your daily practice will become a sanctuary. You will carry a sense of calm and centered awareness into every aspect of your life.
The breath is your constant companion on the path of awakening. It is the whisper of the divine within you. By honoring it, listening to it, and consciously working with it, you open the door to the deepest mysteries of Tantra. You discover that the key to universal energy has been with you all along, in the simple, sacred act of breathing.

The Connection Between Energy, Pleasure, and Mindfulness

I want to walk the earth
Like there are gems waiting to be unearthed.
How lovely I imagine it would be
If every pair of wings
Looked like a miracle to me.
Hope would live in the breezes and the dirt,
And not just in the minds of children
And their dreams.
There would be new seeds to plant
Wherever my body happened to go.
Everything I threw into the world
Would be delighted
To have me watch it grow.

What a gift each day would be
As I lifted my face to the sky,
My mind open to the moment and
My heart open to what’s next.
Where else would I be?
My joy would be
To live under the sky,
Breathing in the essence of this moment—
A slice of eternity—
Living in the reality
That I am blessed.

I want a life upheld
By the animating energy of love
That I was bold enough to believe in.
And yes,
I believe in the endless support of a loving energy.
I could allow myself to
Embrace the unknown
Like it was the glue that unites the whole world.
Through the generosity of my trust,
I could invite the mystery’s guidance to flow,
Removing my need to walk the world
On my own.

A place of love is what I crave.
I need a place to stay
And belong to my self.
I need to feel the pool of wisdom
In which I swim
And listen to the earth’s song as though
I was basking in an eternal hymn.
To see my self in all beings,
In union with all things and
In harmony with the mysteries—
What could my life be but
A gift of eternity unto itself?

Yes, it is so:
In the heart of abundance, I dwell.
There is a wellspring of renewal and
Support like no other
In the deep reservoir of my soul.
This will be my life.
This is the story I’m here to tell.

In the realm of a tantric practice, three sacred forces intertwine to form the heart of transformation: energy, pleasure, and mindfulness. Each of these elements holds unique power, but it is in their convergence that Tantra reveals its true essence of embodied presence and spiritual awakening.

Tantra, in its traditional form, is not merely about sexuality, as often misunderstood in popular culture. Rather, it is a holistic spiritual tradition that embraces life fully. At its core, a tantric practice seeks to awaken the flow of life energy, honor the sacred nature of pleasure, and cultivate deep states of mindfulness. Together, these elements open gateways to profound inner freedom, intimacy, and connection.

Energy, often referred to as prana or shakti in Sanskrit, is the vital life force that animates all beings. In tantra, this energy is not abstract. It is something that can be felt, sensed, and directed. Practitioners (people who practice tantra) learn to become attuned to their own energetic body through breathwork, movement, sound, and intention.

Through techniques such as pranayama (breath control), asana (postures), and energy visualization, one learns to awaken dormant energy centers, most notably the chakras. The kundalini, often symbolized as a coiled serpent at the base of the spine, represents this latent power. When activated and guided with mindfulness, kundalini energy moves through the body, dissolving blockages and expanding awareness.

By learning to sense and flow with this subtle energy, tantric practitioners open themselves to a deeper current of vitality. This energy is not separate from the body. It is the body, animated and alive.

In tantric philosophy, pleasure is not something to be shamed, suppressed, or indulged in unconsciously. It is a sacred doorway into the present moment. When experienced mindfully, pleasure becomes a spiritual tool, one that brings awareness out of the mind and into the body.

Pleasure, whether arising from touch, sound, movement, or sensual connection, is a form of energy. Rather than chasing it or clinging to it, tantra teaches how to feel it deeply, hold it gently, and allow it to expand. This can shift the experience of pleasure from fleeting gratification to sustained presence.

Contrary to the view that spiritual paths require asceticism or denial, tantra honors the body as a temple. It invites practitioners to engage with pleasure consciously, with reverence. In doing so, pleasure becomes a mirror reflecting where energy flows freely and where it is blocked.

Whether through solo practices, sacred partnership, or daily acts of self-care, the key lies in turning attention inward. How does this moment feel? Where is the aliveness? By bringing awareness to sensation, one begins to taste the true nectar of tantra.

Mindfulness is the presence that binds energy and pleasure into a coherent, transformative force. Without mindfulness, energy can become chaotic and pleasure can become addictive. With mindfulness, both become instruments of awakening.

In tantric practice, mindfulness is not merely a mental exercise. It is embodied awareness grounded in sensation, breath, and being. Through sustained attention, one learns to witness each moment without judgment. This presence allows for deeper intimacy, not only with others but with the self.

Every tantric ritual, every breath, every movement is an invitation to return to now. Whether engaging in a sacred ceremony, a sensual massage, or a moment of silent meditation, mindfulness turns the ordinary into the extraordinary. It transforms mechanical patterns into meaningful experience.

This mindful attention is what allows energy to rise safely and pleasure to unfold fully. It creates the container for deep trust and surrender, both within and in connection with another.

When energy is honored, pleasure is embraced, and mindfulness is cultivated, life itself becomes a sacred ritual.

Simple acts such as drinking tea, walking barefoot, or making love become infused with awareness and reverence. Relationships deepen as communication becomes more attuned and presence becomes more consistent. The body, once seen as a vessel of desire or limitation, is reclaimed as a portal to the divine.

Tantric living invites you to slow down. To listen. To feel. It does not demand perfection, only presence. The more one engages with energy, pleasure, and mindfulness as allies, the more alive and whole life becomes.

Tantra is not a quick fix or a path of escape. It is a return to the body, to breath, to the sacredness of sensation. It reminds us that energy is always moving, that pleasure is not separate from spirituality, and that mindfulness is the key to unlocking both.

By weaving energy, pleasure, and mindfulness together, we step into a life of depth, richness, and connection. This is the heart of tantric practice: not to transcend the human experience, but to fully embody it with grace, presence, and love.

How Tantra Approaches Sexuality as a Spiritual Practice

Sexuality is a force of immense power, one that transcends the physical and reaches into the spiritual realms of connection, energy, and self-realization. While many modern perspectives view sex primarily as a physical or emotional act, tantra offers a profound and transformative approach, seeing sexuality not only as an expression of love but as a sacred and spiritual practice. By integrating body, mind, and spirit, tantra invites us to explore the depths of our own sexual energy, transforming it into a powerful tool for spiritual growth, personal healing, and deep connection with others.

The beauty and wisdom of Tantra is that it enhances sexuality as a doorway to the “ecstatic mind of great bliss”.
Truly, at the peak of orgasm, we pierce through the illusion of fragmentation and separation, and glimpse the unity and interconnectedness of all beings.
And through the other – our partner – we fall in love with life.
– Margot Anand

The Tantric Philosophy of Sexuality

In the tradition of tantra, sexuality is seen as a fundamental life force, a powerful energy that is both creative and transformative. Tantric teachings suggest that sexual energy, when harnessed and revered, has the potential to awaken profound states of awareness, connecting us to our higher selves and the universe at large. This approach is rooted in the belief that the body is sacred, and through conscious engagement with the body’s energy, we can experience a state of unity. Unity where the physical, emotional, and spiritual aspects of our being come together.

At the core of tantra is the principle of Shiva and Shakti, the cosmic union of the divine masculine and feminine energies. These energies are not just seen as concepts but as living forces that permeate all aspects of existence, including our sexuality. In tantra, sexuality is not merely an act of physical pleasure, but a gateway to experiencing the divine within. By engaging in sexual practices with awareness and intention, practitioners seek to awaken the dormant energies within themselves, leading to greater spiritual awakening and enlightenment.

In tantra, sexual energy is regarded as one of the most potent forces in the body. Rather than being suppressed or repressed, it is embraced and celebrated as a natural and sacred part of being human. However, tantric practices do not encourage mindless or casual expression of this energy. Instead, they emphasize the importance of intention, mindfulness, and presence in every sexual encounter. When practiced consciously, sex becomes a form of puja, or a sacred offering to the divine, where both partners are invited to enter a space of deep reverence and mutual respect.

The goal is not just physical pleasure, but the cultivation of energy that can be used to elevate the spirit. In tantric sexuality, there is an understanding that the energy generated during intimate moments can be expanded and redirected, circulating throughout the body to promote healing, vitality, and enlightenment. By consciously channeling this energy, tantric practitioners can experience heightened states of awareness and connection; both within themselves and with their partner.

One of the most important principles in tantric sexuality is presence. In a world where distractions and hurried routines often take precedence, tantra teaches the value of slowing down, being fully present, and engaging in intimate acts with complete awareness. Every touch, every kiss, every breath is an opportunity to connect more deeply with the self and the partner. This practice of deep presence fosters intimacy, trust, and an authentic exchange of energy, which can be both profoundly healing and transformative.

By cultivating presence in sexual practices, tantra allows individuals to move beyond the distractions of the mind, reaching a state of deep relaxation and heightened sensitivity. This, in turn, allows both partners to experience the full spectrum of sensations, from the physical to the energetic, that emerge in moments of intimate connection. When sex is approached in this way, it becomes less about achieving an end goal, such as orgasm, and more about the experience of union and flow between two people.

In this state of awareness, there is an opportunity for mutual exploration, a dance of energies between the divine masculine and feminine. This sacred union is not about dominance or submission, but about balance and equality. In tantra, both partners are seen as divine beings, each contributing their own unique energy to the union. When this energy is shared and honored in a mindful way, it creates a deep sense of unity and connection that transcends the physical realm.

Tantric Practices for Cultivating Sexual Energy

While tantric sexuality is deeply spiritual, it is also practical. There are many tools and practices that can help individuals and couples cultivate and harness sexual energy in a conscious and intentional way. Some of the most common tantric practices include:

  1. Breathing Techniques: One of the most fundamental practices in tantra is conscious breathing. Breathing deeply and slowly helps to bring awareness to the body and to the energy circulating within it. In tantric sex, breathing is synchronized between partners, which helps to deepen the connection and harmonize the flow of energy.
  2. Slow, Intentional Touch: In tantra, touch is not merely about physical sensation; it is an act of reverence and connection. Practitioners are encouraged to touch slowly and deliberately, allowing the energy between partners to build and flow. This approach shifts the focus away from performance and toward an experience of shared energy.
  3. Eye Gazing: Eye contact is a powerful practice in tantra, as it allows individuals to connect on a soul level. By gazing into your partner’s eyes, you open up the possibility of seeing them as more than just a physical being, but as a reflection of the divine. This practice deepens the intimacy and emotional bond between partners, allowing for a more profound and holistic connection.
  4. Sacred Space: Creating a sacred environment is another important aspect of tantric practice. A calm, clean, and welcoming space helps to set the intention for the practice. This can include lighting candles, burning incense, and using soft music to create a peaceful, meditative atmosphere.
  5. Energy Circulation: In tantric connection, sexual energy is not merely released, but it is circulated through the body, allowing it to flow freely and be used for spiritual awakening. This can be done through techniques like Mulabandha (the root lock) and Uddiyana Bandha (the abdominal lock), which help to move energy upward through the body’s chakras.

One of the most significant benefits of tantric sexuality is its potential to heal shame and guilt around sex. In many cultures, sex has been heavily stigmatized and repressed, creating negative associations with our bodies and sexual desires. Tantra seeks to dismantle these cultural taboos by viewing sexuality as sacred, beautiful, and transformative.

By reclaiming the sacredness of sexuality, tantra encourages us to embrace our desires without judgment, guilt, or shame. It invites us to explore the depth of our sexual energy, not as a means to fulfill selfish desires, but as a path to spiritual growth, healing, and liberation. This shift in perspective allows individuals to approach intimacy with openness, vulnerability, and a deep sense of reverence for themselves and their partners.

Tantra’s approach to sexuality as a spiritual practice offers a profound path of transformation. By engaging in sexual practices with mindfulness, presence, and intention, individuals can tap into the powerful energies that reside within them, using these energies not only to enhance their physical experiences but to connect more deeply with themselves, their partners, and the divine. In this sacred practice, sexuality becomes much more than an act of physical pleasure; it becomes a doorway to higher consciousness, a tool for healing, and a way to experience unity with the universe itself. Through tantra, we are reminded that our bodies are sacred, our sexual energy is divine, and our connection to one another is a reflection of the greater cosmic dance of life.

The Key Principles and Philosophies of Tantra: Understanding the Sacred Path

The Nature of the Secret Knowledge
Imagine a road that if revealed you cannot travel it.
Imagine a love that if known you cannot touch.
This is the nature of the secret knowledge, if you know what we seek, then it becomes the obstacle that cannot be surpassed; a new mirage of words, and entrapments that keeps you locked out. Unable to realize it.
Waking up is beyond language, but through words (dreams, thought, impressions, dharma and karma) we must go forth!
Keep in mind as it reveals to you, that each layer that peels falls because the previous one fell off. But again be careful because by opening it up you might get tangled in thinking there is a core, a truth, a veracious teaching, but in the end as with an onion there was nothing to be sought, nothing to be taught, nothing to pursue, nothing to be won.
Only endless layers of packed karma.
Poem by Gagayogini

Hello my dear love,

This month we are exploring the fundamental principles and philosophies of tantra. By understanding these core teachings, one can begin to integrate tantra into their spiritual journey, cultivating a more balanced, aware, and fulfilling life.

Tantra is an ancient spiritual tradition that has captivated seekers for centuries with its rich teachings and transformative practices. Originating in India, tantra encompasses a wide range of practices designed to expand consciousness, deepen self-awareness, and connect individuals to the divine. At its core, tantra is not merely a set of rituals or techniques but a profound philosophy that integrates the body, mind, and spirit.

Tantra is About Union

The central philosophy of tantra revolves around the concept of union. Tantra seeks to unite the individual self with the universal consciousness, blending the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual aspects of existence. It teaches that everything in the universe is interconnected, and through conscious practices, we can experience this oneness with all of life.

In tantric teachings, this union is often symbolized through the sacred dance of Shiva and Shakti, the divine masculine and feminine energies. These energies are not seen as opposites but as complementary forces that, when balanced, create harmony and wholeness. Tantra teaches that each individual embodies both these energies, and the process of self-realization involves harmonizing these forces within.

Through tantric practices, whether it be meditation, breath work, or conscious sexuality, practitioners seek to merge with the divine and experience the fullness of life in its sacred entirety.

Tantra Embraces the Body as Sacred

Unlike many traditional spiritual paths that often emphasize transcendence of the physical body, tantra teaches that the body is sacred. It is viewed as a temple and a vessel for divine energy. The physical body is not something to be rejected or ignored but rather honored and revered as an essential part of the spiritual journey.

This philosophy extends to the senses as well. Tantra encourages practitioners to awaken their senses and embrace the fullness of experience, whether through touch, sound, sight, or taste. The sensual world is not seen as separate from the spiritual world but as a doorway to deeper consciousness. By engaging with the senses mindfully, tantra guides practitioners to live fully in the present moment, fostering an awareness that connects body, mind, and spirit.

The Power of Breath and Energy

One of the key practices in tantra is the use of breath to cultivate and circulate life force energy, often referred to as prana or kundalini. Breath is seen as the bridge between the body and the spirit, and by mastering conscious breathing, individuals can awaken latent energies within themselves.

In tantric meditation, practitioners use specific breathing techniques to guide prana through the body. This circulation of energy helps to balance the chakras, harmonize the mind, and promote emotional and physical well-being. Tantra teaches that by consciously directing breath and energy, we can reach heightened states of awareness and deepen our connection to the divine.

Breath work in tantra is often integrated with movement, sound, and visualization, creating a holistic experience that stimulates both the body and the mind. By focusing on the breath, tantra enables practitioners to enter deeper states of meditation and reach a heightened sense of self-awareness and presence.

The Importance of Presence and Awareness

A core aspect of tantra is the cultivation of presence and mindfulness. In the modern world, distractions are ever-present, and it is easy to become disconnected from the present moment. Tantra offers a path to overcome this fragmentation by emphasizing the importance of being fully aware and present in each moment.

Through meditation, breathing techniques, and mindful living, tantra encourages practitioners to cultivate a deep awareness of their thoughts, feelings, and actions. By observing the mind without attachment, individuals can transcend the ego and tap into their higher self. This mindfulness also extends to relationships and sexuality, where presence and conscious connection can transform the experience into something sacred and transformative.

Tantra and Sacred Sexuality

One of the most well-known aspects of tantra is its approach to sexuality. In many spiritual traditions, sexuality is often seen as something separate from spiritual practice, but tantra integrates sexuality into the path of self-realization. Tantra views sexual energy as a powerful and sacred force that can be used for spiritual awakening.

Rather than focusing solely on physical pleasure, tantric sexuality is about cultivating deep connection, intimacy, and sacred union with oneself and a partner. Practices such as conscious breathing, eye gazing, and slow touch help build a strong energy connection that allows sexual energy to flow freely through the body. Tantra teaches that sexual energy, when harnessed properly, can be a gateway to higher consciousness, profound healing, and spiritual transformation.

This approach to sexuality emphasizes the importance of balance, presence, and intention. It is not about seeking gratification but about experiencing the fullness of life force energy in a conscious, intentional way. By embracing sexual energy as sacred, tantra transforms intimate encounters into acts of spiritual devotion and personal growth.

Tantra’s View of the Mind and Ego

Tantra also acknowledges the role of the mind and ego in our spiritual journey. The mind, often dominated by thoughts, desires, and distractions, can be a source of suffering and disconnection. Tantra offers practices that help practitioners observe the mind without attachment, allowing them to transcend the ego and its limiting beliefs.

One of the central teachings of tantra is that the ego is not something to be eliminated but to be understood. Through meditation, chanting, and self-reflection, individuals can gain insight into the nature of their thoughts and emotions, recognizing that they are not defined by the ego but by their higher self. Tantra teaches that through awareness, we can transform the mind, releasing limiting beliefs and embracing our true nature as divine beings.

The Path of Tantra as a Way of Life

Ultimately, tantra is more than just a series of techniques or rituals. It is a way of life, a path of deepening self-awareness, embracing the sacredness of all things, and realizing the interconnectedness of all beings. Tantra invites practitioners to live consciously, to honor the body and mind, and to merge with the divine in every moment.

Through its principles of union, presence, sacredness, and mindfulness, tantra provides a transformative path to spiritual awakening. It teaches that the journey to enlightenment is not about transcending life’s experiences but about embracing them fully and with awareness.

The core principles and philosophies of tantra offer a unique and profound approach to spirituality. By integrating the body, mind, and spirit, tantra provides a holistic path to self-realization and spiritual growth. Through practices such as conscious breathing, mindfulness, and sacred sexuality, tantra invites us to experience the divine in every moment and to live fully, authentically, and in harmony with the universe.
